An Elopement Story in Southern Utah

Southern Utah is mysteriously sculpted with sensuous curves and rugged cliffs. The colors emote deep feelings. Oranges, browns, and reds, of every hue, constantly change from soft to brilliant. This desert's beauty is inherent and easy to fall in love with.

I understand the draw to celebrate the most sacred bond in a couples life in this awe inspiring landscape. The stark contrast of silhouetted figures against expansive views offers fantastic photography and captured moments. The openness and vastness of the desert has a way of zeroing in on life within it. Whether considering an adventure elopement or intimate wedding Quiet Shelters is onboard and has been honored to host a few.

"My fiancé and I are eloping and honeymooning!" This is the message I received from Yolie and Stephen about reserving Quiet Shelters Adobe Retreat for their unique adventure elopement. My heart smiles when I think of such events occurring on our property. For couples, Quiet Shelters radiates a positivity and lends to a intentionally facilitated calmness for occasions like these.

Wedding Day Accommodations in Utah

Yolie and Stephen chose to elope and honeymoon in Kanab, Utah to have options.

"We chose Kanab for our adventure elopement because we were looking for a place that had wide open spaces, epic scenery and proximity to amazing national and state parks. Kanab also had a small town feel, with great restaurants, art galleries, shopping, history and more. Having such a warm and beautiful home to return to after each full, soul-satisfying day made our stay in Kanab even that much more comfortable and welcoming."

This couples adventure began with a jaw dropping proposal. Yolie and Stephen hopped in their Ford Bronco and took a short drive to White Pocket. This exotically off-grid location transports you to another world filled with swirls and brain like rock features. A perfectly timed sunset cast an exquisite light on the pair.

White Pocket's 100 acres allowed Yolie and Stephen to find nooks and open spaces of solitude for the intimate proposal.

Adventure Elopement

Yolie and Stephen took advantage of the plethora of opportunities for picturesque wedding photography in the Kanab area. They headed over to Cave Lakes Canyon for a horseback riding adventure and Peek-A-Boo Canyon for iconic slot canyon scenes. We love the custom bridal jean jacket Yolie wore horseback riding, and the fun laid back vibe of their hiking adventure in Peek-A-Boo Canyon.

A traditional wedding experience often feels more about the guests than the couple. An adventure elopement allows the bride and groom to ditch all the distracting guest list details and focus the day solely on each other. It allows for a wedding day presence and tranquility.

Yolie and Stephen comfortably settled into Quiet Shelters Adobe Retreat to prepare for their vows. One of Quiet Shelters inherent values is to provide guests a pressure release from the stresses of everyday life. The micro wedding trend fits nicely with this value. It is an experience-driven, intimate celebration of you and your relationship to each other without all the hubbub.

Yolie and Stephen had the mental and physical space to slowly ease into their wedding day. The pink hues of the adobe home, like the surrounding landscape, wrapped Yolie's white wedding gown elegantly. The red rock butte behind the adobe retreat ruggedly encapsulated their love.

Once spruced up, Yolie and Stephan headed to Paria Canyon, an area filled with towering walls streaked with desert colors. I love the idea of throwing down a rug in the middle of the desert to look into your lovers eyes with the words "I do."

If a traditional wedding doesn't feel like you, and you love the idea of not having to please a large crowd on your wedding day, take notes from Yolie and Stephen. Quiet Shelters is deeply honored they shared this special moment with us and we wish them many more love filled years exploring these canyons!
